Joy Blackburn
Joy started her career as an occupational therapist and learnt pottery
during
her training. She continued to use it as a therapeutic tool in her work
with
psychiatric patients and kept it up as a hobby, having her own studio at
home.
When Joy retired from her profession, she was delighted to take over
Creature
Pots from Anne Sole who gave it up because of family commitments. This ensured that the artists still
had the facilities to be creative and earn an income.
Joy rents the venue, supplies all tools and materials and pays for the
electricity
required for the firing of her large kiln. She also does the marketing for
Creature
Pots and shares her knowledge and assists in the training of new artists.
